‘One of the most important findings of my career is that courage can be taught, developed and measured. Courage is a collection of four skill sets supported by thirty-eight behaviours. All it requires is a commitment to doing bold work, having tough conversations and showing up with our whole hearts. Easy? No. Choosing courage over comfort is not easy. Worth it? Always. We want to be brave with our lives and work. It’s why we’re here.’
– Dr Brené Brown
Evidence-Based Leadership Curriculum
Dare To Lead™ is an evidence-based leadership program based on Dr Brené Brown’s latest, best-selling book Dare To Lead, delivered by Certified Dare To Lead™ Facilitator, Kylie Lewis.
Dr Brown has spent twenty years studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and recently completed a nine-year study on brave leadership. As she writes:
‘Leadership is not about titles or the corner office. It’s about the willingness to step up, put yourself out there, and lean into courage. The world is desperate for braver leaders. It’s time for all of us to step up.’

What Is Your Call To Courage?
It is one thing to listen to a podcast or read a book, it’s another level altogether to process the learnings and embed them into our bones. Through the Dare To Lead™ program, we place the learnings specifically into your professional context by exploring the questions:
- What’s your call to courage as a leader?
- Where would you like to be braver?
We hone in specifically on your leadership challenges, what’s getting in the way of you moving through them, and the strategies and tools needed to lead bravely in your career arena.

THE HEART OF DARING LEADERSHIP
The foundational insights that emerged from Brené’s research into transformational leadership discovered that:

01. You can’t get to courage without rumbling with vulnerability. Embrace the suck.
Daring leadership is a collection of four skill sets that are 100% teachable, observable, and measurable. The foundational skill set of courage-building is “rumbling with vulnerability.” Once we have built these rumbling skills, we can move on to the other three skill sets: Living into Our Values, Braving Trust, and Learning to Rise. Our ability to be daring leaders will never be greater than our capacity for vulnerability. Our greatest measure of courage is our capacity to rumble with vulnerability.
02. Self-awareness and self-love matter. Who we are is how we lead.
The greatest barrier to courageous leadership is not fear — it’s how we respond to our fear. Our armour — the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that we use to protect ourselves when we aren’t willing and able to rumble with vulnerability — move us out of alignment with our values, corrode trust with our colleagues and teams, and prevent us from being our most courageous selves.

03. Courage is contagious.
To scale daring leadership and build courage in teams and organisations, we must cultivate a culture in which brave work, tough conversations, and whole hearts are the expectation, and armour is not necessary or rewarded.
We have to be vigilant about intentionally creating and upholding a culture in which people feel

The Dare To Lead workshop has been a transformative experience. Kylie is an outstanding workshop facilitator with a real zest for supporting the growth of people. This experience has provided me with an abundance of new tools and skills as well as a greater sense of awareness of me as a leader.
JOSHUA PACEK, INNOVATION & LEARNING DESIGN LEADER, BETHANY LUTHERAN PRIMARY SCHOOL
The workshop has helped me to develop both personally and professionally. It calls to me to start with “self-first”. It generates deep reflection and encourages and celebrates honesty as part of learning to be a braver leader. If you want to feel real change in yourself and your workplace I can’t recommend it enough.
NATALIE NICKSON, UNIVERSITY OF NSW
To be completely honest, I felt uncomfortable and challenged at the start of this workshop but I was so glad to have gone through this journey. What a wonderful transformative experience! Thank you Kylie for your beautiful, encouraging demeanour and excellent presentation. This learning has helped me tremendously.
DONAELLA MANNOLINI, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, VICTORIAN COLLEGE OF THE ARTS SECONDARY SCHOOL
I didn’t know what to expect. I had no idea what I was walking into. I heard of Brené Brown but hadn’t read the books. Kylie and Julie made this experience feel attainable, relevant and tangible from the first moment. It is not easy to create a sense of safety when sitting in what we often perceive as ‘darkness’ – shame, guilt, forgiveness, sadness – bit it felt more than bearable – it felt like growth immediately. Thank you.
ANA POCRNJIC, COORDINATOR, REGIONAL TEAM, QPASTT
It is incredibly difficult to learn the skill to “hold space”, to work in integrity and to offer compassion in a vulnerable world. Kylie offers all of this in her “Daring to Lead” workshop. She will gently challenge your perspective, allow you to search for the answers within and provide the right questions to apply the learnings and growth along the way. Thank you for being a confident, competent and open facilitator.
BEL YORSTON, CEO, YLEAD
This workshop has empowered me to be a more courageous and daring leader, able to lean into difficult conversations, live my values and rise again when things don’t go as expected.
SEAN CROON, FOUNDER & CAREER COACH, ITCV WRITERS
The content of the seminar is a powerful tool for self-awareness. Attending the seminar is better than merely reading Berne’s wonderful books. It has equal applicability to the office & in the home.
KRIS KERR, MEDICAL DOCTOR/PATHOLOGIST, SULLIVAN NICOLADES PATHOLOGY
The Dare To Lead course covers much deep and reflective information. It could easily get heavy and overwhelming. Kylie kept it interesting and entertaining. Dare To Lead gives you a great set of tools to lead. Thank you!
