Rising Strong Workshop Brene Brown Melbourne Kylie Lewis

Have you ever been taught how to handle your hard emotions? Or how to have a difficult conversation? How proficient are you in naming your feelings when you’re upset?  How long does it take you to bounce back after setbacks? Do you feel like you know how to gracefully manage anger, navigate disappointment, soothe hurt, feel grief or overcome shame?

Most of us have been raised to not be curious about our emotions or not to understand them. Mostly we were taught to discharge them as quickly as possible, especially the hard ones. To push them down, suck it up and get on with it.

And yet, we are feeling beings who walk around every day interacting with other human beings who have feelings too. The quality of our interactions with them greatly determines our happiness in our workplaces, our homes and our relationships.

Based on 15 years of research by Dr Brené Brown, Rising Strong™ is all about learning how to live, love and lead wholeheartedly with authenticity, how to ask for what you need, how to use our words compassionately and how to get back up when things don’t go our way.

About Your Facilitator

Kylie Lewis is an accredited Daring Way facilitator in both The Daring Way and Rising Strong curriculums, based on the research on Dr Brené Brown. Kylie is a corporate refugee intent on humanising work, and changing the conversations we have with ourselves and others, so that we live strong through courageous choices rather than stay small from fearful voices.

From early studies in psychology and sociology, Kylie built a 20-year corporate career in fast growth businesses before finally understanding that the only thing that makes a culture great is the capacity of individuals to have the skills to handle hard emotions and the courage to have difficult conversations.

After watching Brené Brown’s TEDTalks, Kylie took the leap from her corporate career to reignite her love of the social sciences, and start her own business Of Kin in 2013. She has since become a qualified executive coach, an accredited Daring Way practitioner and is currently studying the neuroscience of conversations. She is also a qualified fitness instructor, specialising in group exercise for pregnant and postnatal women.

In facilitating this workshop Kylie is working on purpose to lead and participate in a global conversation about vulnerability, courage, shame and worthiness, and provide access to information on how emotion is connected to behaviour and thought. She is passionate about awakening people’s curiosity about emotions, and building awareness and the ability to articulate our understanding of emotions. She aims to show how the rising strong process at both micro and macro levels increases wholeheartedness in living, loving and leading.
